Lawton Pro Musica was established in 2003 by Nancy Willoughby. The first group was composed of local musicians who were teachers, music ministers, and performers who loved choral music and loved to sing. The first concert was held in June 2003 and performed to an appreciative audience.
With the help of various generous community members, Pro Musica was incorporated and achieved the 501(c)3 status. The group became a member of Arts for All in 2004.
Lawton Pro Musica has continued to provide local singers with performance opportunities in classical choral music with emphasis also on opera choruses and vocal jazz. Our audiences have shown support and encouragement through monetary donations and consistent attendance at concerts.
Lawton Pro Musica typically has three concerts per year--Holiday, Spring, and Summer. These concerts have always been and continue to be free with no tickets required. Everyone is welcome.
Lawton Pro Musica has had financial support from businesses, government grants, foundations, and individuals. This allows Lawton Pro Musica to continue a history of excellence in supporting our talented local musicians and providing outstanding musical experiences for our audiences.
